Curriculum in the Life Skills program includes teaching students to use money, tell time, write a budget, pay bills, and read sight words in the community. Students learn to use calculators, checking and saving accounts and ATM cards. In addition, students spend time in the community practicing these skills in grocery stores, banks, and restaurants. Another aspect of the Life Skills program teaches students vocational skills such as data entry and filing. Many of our students start with jobs on campus in the counseling office, library, cafeteria, and attendance office. Once students have sufficient work experience they move into volunteer or paid jobs in the community. The Life Skills curriculum teaches skills in the following areas.
